7th Edition of WhyFLOSS Conference

Next 21st May, it is going to present the sixth WhyFLOSS Conference in the Carlos III Univerity auditorium in Leganés (Madrid, Spain). It will be the third one in Spain and the conference let people know the open source technology within FLOSS ((Free/Libre/Open Source Software).

 

The Morfeo Community will participate for the fist time with a conference in charge of Andrés Leonardo Martínez about new approximations of the development of business with the open source software (OSS). Andrés L. speak about how OSS can be used in a practical approach to fostering economic development and improving competitive advantage.

 

Andrés L. Martínez is involved in the Morfeo Community management. Also he takes part in Vulcano and QualiPSo projects in which promote the adoption of OSS in the industry.

The Morfeo Community and its technologies will be present at the 18th World Wide Web Conference

The Morfeo Community and its technologies will be present at the 18th World Wide Web Conference, which will take place in Madrid, from April 22 to April 24.

On Thursday, April 23rd, Juan J. Hierro will be introducing the Community to the WWW2009 attendees by presenting a paper  he co-authored with Javier Soriano, Andrés Leonardo Martínez, David Lizcano, Miguel Jiménez, titled “The Morfeo Open Source Community: building technologies of the Future Web through open innovation”.  You can visit the Web page of the WWW in Iberoamerica Refereed Track, which hosts this presentation, for further details on it. The talk will represent a significant opportunity to present ongoing work as well as some of the most relevant technology innovations being lead by Morfeo partners to the Iberoamerican Community. This will in turn help fostering collaboration and bridging new partnerships.

On Friday, April 24th, Morfeo Project will contribute to a panel session chaired by the W3C Spain Office, titled “Open Innovation and Open Labs: An emergent opportunity for leading technology innovation and development for the Future Internet”, by presenting a nobel approach to Open Innovation that  has been shown to be effective.  Recent initiatives being undertaken by the Community will be explained, especially those focused on the creation of the Morfeo’s Open Labs network its expansion in Latin America, thus bringing this initiative closer to the heart of the Ibero American WWW community. Morfeo has recently opened there two new Offices: the first one to give service to the shouthern cone and the second in Brazil. The panel session will be chaired by Martín Álvarez, Manager of the W3C Spain Office, and the panelists will be Antonio Campos and Eduardo Álvarez (CTIC Foundation), Juan J. Hierro (Telefónica I+D) and Jesús M. González-Barahona (GSyC/LibreSoft, Rey Juan Carlos University). Please visit the Conference Website for further details on this panel session.

Additionally, during the conference Telefónica I+D will be presenting in its stand some of the most relevant technologies being developed in Morfeo, such as EzWeb, FAST and  MyMobileWeb.

Morfeo Cono Sur has their directory

It has been already made up the directory for the Morfeo Cono Sur Office whose president is Gerardo Renzetti, chairman of ESI Centre Cono Sur and president of Grupo Tekne.
Also, the direction is surevised by:
- Dr. Javier Diaz, vicedean of the Computer Scients University and headmaster of the Computer Scients New Tecnologies Investigation Laboratory, LINTI. Both belong to the La Plata Nacional University in Argentina.
- Alberto Rivera Muñoz, headmaster of R.R.P.P. ONG Corporación Linuxchillán in Chile.
- Ing. Iván Prieto, chairman of the Paraguaa Open Source Software Community (COSOLPY) situated in Paraguay.
- Martín Olivera , chairman of the SOLAR civil assotiation, Argentina Open Source Software in Argentina.
- Tania Gallardo Turiel, chairwoman of the Open Source Software Centre (CSOL) in Chile.
- Ing. Andrés L. Sclippa, headmaster of Latam WhyFLOSS in Argentina.
Soon, it will be joined to this team work a person who represent to Uruguay.
The Cono Sur office has the headquarter in Argentina, however, nowadays, its area of operations is Uruguay, Paraguay and Chile too. They don’t rule out the idea to increase this ambitious project with new incorporations so, it can improve the open source software development all around South America. The cooperation between Morfeo Cono Sur and Morfeo Spain will be a boost to get a narrow collaboration to acquire new goals.

Communication Plan of the Morfeo Community

Communication between all the Morfeo’s members is one of the most immediate necessities to improve the benefits of the Community. With this method, it pretends to approach the information in a efficient and specific way to all the parters and also pretends to know all the members in an one on one way.

It has been described some objectives we would like to carry out in a not so extensive period where it describes the necessities that nowadays the Community has. With this plan it wishes to do a internal community to all the members to improve the collaboration labors and increase the cooperation. So, everyone could get what they really need. As well, it looks for rising the external communication in order to release the Morfeo Project to all the interested public.

For this complex job, it has been created several ways of communication which will enable better expectations as well as speed up and facilitate the information fluency. To get the appropriated results it is necessary that the communication between all the participants will be as much agile as possible. So, everyone could gain.

It is available the Morfeo Comunity’s communication plan in the wiki (http://forge.morfeo-project.org/wiki/index.php/Plan_de_Comunicaci%C3%B3n). This plan is still in the develop period thus, if someone of you are interested, we appreciated your collaboration to improve the initiative.
