From 1st to 4th July in the Historical building of the Barcelona University it is going to take place the 8ª Free Software Conference.

On Friday 3rd 11:30 am, Andrés Leonardo Martínez, Morfeo Office representative,  will take charge of a speech about Business Community of Free Software Development. There, it will be explain the effectiveness of open source software to competitive advantages development and to promote innovation. Also, Morfeo will be presented as a model of collaboration community where different kind of organizations work together to achieve economic development in a competitive market  through the use of open source technologies.

Thereupon, Jesús M. Barahona and Pedro Coca, also members of the Morfeo Community, are going to explain their speech about “ competence center of free software” where it will describe the easiness provided by competence centers to companies and professionals working on the subject of open source software. In particular, the European project Qualipso together with Morfeo are already organizating a  network of such centers.

Free Software Conference, JPL, is a platform to raise awareness to the society about the different  activities that are doing within free software which were focus on the Catalan universities uses and nowadays has been expanded to every sector of the country .

Next Thursday 25th June, it is going to celebrate a new Morfeo’s meeting in the Instituto Tecnológico de Buenos Aires (ITBA).

In so awaited event, attendees will be able to know all the new initiatives and proposals of the Community Morfeo Cono Sur as well as to make a balance of the obtained community results until now. Among other things, it will be presented Open Marketplace, MyMobileWeb, ezWeb proyects realized by Morfeo Spain.

It will be the perfect occasion to announce the advances of the network Morfeo offices that have been created in Latin America (Morfeo Cono Sur and Morfeo Brazil) to share aims and to realize a collaborative work.

The meeting will begin at 8:45 and it is specially aim at TIC companies, public administrations, technological centres, universities and other sectors that they consider the open source software as the key for the innovation.

The next July 8t, 9th and 10th INES, the Spanish Initiative of Services and Software, is going to have its General Assembly. INES is the Spanish Technological Platform dedicated to the Systems and Software Services. It represents a scientific and technological network to foster the cooperation. The event has been co organized by the Innovation, Science and Enterprises Department of the Government of the Andalusia.

The provisional agenda and actualized information about the event can be found at INES website (see here).

Morfeo Project supports this kind of initiative and invite to you to attend the meeting.

Since last week the community has a new space for disemmination purposes: Morfeo Geeks.

Morfeo Geeks is a place under Morfeo Community where its members shares among them curiosities on technology and computing with a technical approach. There you can discuss about software development, computing systems, distributed algorithms, cutting edge hardware or anything else you consider interesting.
