Today and tomorrow the French capital, specifically in the George V Eurosite Convention Center, host the “Open World Forum under the slogan “Free Libre and Open Source Software. At the heart of the digital recovery”. The event is organized by the Directorate General for Informatics of the European Commission where they will present the 2020 initiative FLOSS RoadMap handed of the best experts in open source software, researchers, architects and developers. At present, it is true that open source software is revolutionizing digital strategies and the software industry in areas such as technology, innovation, business models, public policies, … and that is why these kind of events becomes increasingly important.
More than 1500 attendees from all countries that attend to this technology meeting will find a total of 34 lectures by 140 prestigious speakers from 20 different countries. Among them, there are 3 members of the Morfeo Community, Jesús González Barahona, Pedro Coca and Andres Leonardo Martínez. They will attend and participate in the IDABC and in the FLOSS Competence Center Summit.
IDABC Open Source Event 2009: The Power of Communities [1] focus on European public administrations and their uses and investing in open source software. It will emphasize the key aspects of the sustainability of FLOSS along with several practical cases and it will be done a discussion panel.
For the first time, FLOSS Competence Center Summit [2] will bring together in one event the managers of the main centers of competence worldwide to share experience, define best practices, and evaluate possible synergies. And get a better knowledge and spreading of open source technologies and greater exchange of practices.
