Estimados miembros de Morfeo, colaboradores y en general cualquier persona afín a este proyecto. Os comunico que lamentablemente mi beca para trabajar en la Comunidad Morfeo ha concluido debido a la finalización de mis estudios de Periodismo.
Trabajar aquí me ha supuesto muchos retos y objetivos por cumplir, pero sobre todo me ha producido una gran satisfacción. Gracias a mis labores en Morfeo he podido desarrollar las tareas del periodista a casi todos los niveles; redactar notas de prensa, comunicados y reseñas de eventos, redactar noticias y artículos que incluso alguno de ellos ha llegado a ser publicado en revistas tecnológicas. Además, he tenido la oportunidad de organizar y coordinar tanto asambleas como diversos eventos donde de primera mano, he podido estar al cargo de todas las acciones de comunicación necesarias para lograr una buena resolución. Todo ello a nivel nacional, europeo e iberoamericano.
Asimismo, mis funciones en la Comunidad Morfeo me han permitido desarrollar otras actividades como la de organizar y actualizar redes sociales, análisis estadísticos sobre las funciones de la Comunidad o, entre otras cosas, realizar encuestas de satisfacción y evaluación de las tareas que se realizan en Morfeo.
Ahora comienza otra nueva etapa ya como licenciada. El camino que me espera es incierto debido a las malas épocas que nos tocan vivir en estos momentos, sin embargo, espero que en mi nueva experiencia laboral que me depare el futuro, sea la que sea, me ofrezca tantos nuevos conocimientos y experiencias como esta pasada etapa en la Comunidad Morfeo.
No me quiero despedir sin antes agradeceros a todos vuestro trabajo aquí. Principalmente a Andrés Leonardo Martínez, Pedro Acebes y Juan José Hierro por la oportunidad que me han dado y por su buen trabajo en Morfeo. Y a todos los que formáis parte de este equipo. Gracias a todos por vuestros comentarios y sugerencias en mis labores que han enriquecido mi cometido aquí.

Today and tomorrow the French capital, specifically in the George V Eurosite Convention Center, host the “Open World Forum under the slogan “Free Libre and Open Source Software. At the heart of the digital recovery”. The event is organized by the Directorate General for Informatics of the European Commission where they will present the 2020 initiative FLOSS RoadMap handed of the best experts in open source software, researchers, architects and developers. At present, it is true that open source software is revolutionizing digital strategies and the software industry in areas such as technology, innovation, business models, public policies, … and that is why these kind of events becomes increasingly important.
More than 1500 attendees from all countries that attend to this technology meeting will find a total of 34 lectures by 140 prestigious speakers from 20 different countries. Among them, there are 3 members of the Morfeo Community, Jesús González Barahona, Pedro Coca and Andres Leonardo Martínez. They will attend and participate in the IDABC and in the FLOSS Competence Center Summit.
IDABC Open Source Event 2009: The Power of Communities [1] focus on European public administrations and their uses and investing in open source software. It will emphasize the key aspects of the sustainability of FLOSS along with several practical cases and it will be done a discussion panel.
For the first time, FLOSS Competence Center Summit [2] will bring together in one event the managers of the main centers of competence worldwide to share experience, define best practices, and evaluate possible synergies. And get a better knowledge and spreading of open source technologies and greater exchange of practices.

SOLIS – Free and Open Source Software CoOperative
1. Background
Solis is a Free and Open Source Software solutions and services co-operative. Solis was formed as part of regional development project lead by Univates, an University Center located in the city of Lajeado, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, the southernmost state of Brazil. Originally, Solis’ members were students, professors and former members of Univates’ IT department. Today Solis employs 51 collaborators, including computer engineers, systems analysts and administrators.
2. Solutions
Solis develops and integrates free and open source software products when building a complete solution for its customers. When doing this, Solis takes in consideration the always growing need of
Information and Communication Technologies as the strategic support for its customers. Solus is always in focus with the customer’s own market and business, preserving previous investments and building solutions that are trustworthy and expandable. As a result, Solis’ customers become more competitive, technology independent and empowered by the freedom of choice.
Besides offering a full range of solutions for educational institutions, government and corporations, Solis also develops solutions specifically tailored to the needs of its customers and designs and manages systems migration to free and open source software based solutions.
Solis includes in its solutions, along with products developed by the co-operative, other free and open source software made available by the development community. Among these community products used by Solis are the GNU/Linux operating system, the OpenOffice.Org office suite and web services such as apache.
Solis offers installation services, technical support and training for all of the solutions it delivers. Network infrastructure services, including email security, environment management are also services offered by Solis so the customer’s can consider Solis a one-stop shop for all of its IT needs.
Solis also provides consulting services for a wide variety of systems and products provided by the free and open source software development community.
